The IB Programme includes a Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma Programme, and reaches students ages 3-19. These are overseen by International Baccalaureate ®, a non-profit based in Geneva, Switzerland. The curriculum is used by schools, both public and private, across the globe. All participating schools must maintain standards set by the IBO and are reviewed on-site at specified intervals.
Authorized World School
In February 2012, Smith Magnet Elementary celebrated receiving authorization as a World School from the IB Organization for the IB-PYP Programme. Read Principal Chris Lassiter’s announcement of authorization.
Smith joins other IB schools in sharing a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org.
Smith Magnet Elementary, East Garner Magnet Middle School, and Garner Magnet High School have formed a partnership which spans the K-12 educational continuum in one specific area of the county. This partnership provides sustained instruction through the IB philosophy and builds program continuity. Read more on our IB Partnership Pathway page.
Smith also has partnerships with two programs to strengthen our resources for global learning and specialized continuing education for our teachers. Read more on our Global Connections page.
