As part of Smith’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality, internationally-minded education for our students, our school participates in two programs designed to strengthen student opportunities and provide specialized continuing education training for our educators.

North Carolina Global Schools Network

Global Schools NetworkSmith Magnet Elementary, along with fourteen other Wake County schools, has partnered with the Global Schools Network. The Global Schools Network ensures that all students have the opportunity to gain the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for work and life in an interconnected world.  Global dimensions and 21st century technology will be infused into the North Carolina Standard Course of Study promoting international mindedness in all students. World View: An International Program for Educators

World View - UNCOffered by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

In the summer of 2010, Smith Magnet Elementary began its ongoing partnership with World View, an international program for educators offered at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. World View helps K-12 school educators introduce global concepts in their classrooms and provides access to symposiums, seminars, speakers, study tours abroad and global education leadership programs. The World View staff also works with partner teachers and staff on site with curriculum resources, technology presentations, and meetings on globalization.
