Mrs. Buchanan’s third grade class recently worked with three middle school students from North Garner Middle School for a lesson designed to improve communication skills – a perfect tie-in to the IB Learner Profile’s emphasis on being a Communicator
.
The middle schoolers, including one of Ms. Buchanan’s former students, participate in their school’s leadership organization called Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.
The students created their project focusing on communication skills using “I”-messages.
They led the third graders in multiple activities to help them learn about how we communicate with others, how we express ourselves when we agree or disagree with someone, and other vital communication techniques.
